Art of Meditation

Stress. Anxiety, Depression all these terms are very commonly heard nowadays. And why not, considering the amount of competition, and peer pressure one has to face, is it natural to succumb to it. Every single person around us goes through some or the other hardship. At such times what matters the most is, how the stress and anxiety are handled. Basically, how to keep our minds at peace and stable, and happy is what matters the most.

Thankfully, people have now understood the importance of keeping their bodies healthy. Along with the body, keeping the mind healthy is as equally important. I firmly believe that if our mind is healthy, then we will find the courage to go through almost all the adversities that life may want to throw at us. Now, one might think, from the busy schedule how do I get out time to focus on myself? How do I help my mind find peace?

Only 15 to 20 minutes are enough to restore and rejuvenate the mind. Yes, that’s correct. Only 15- 20 minutes are more than enough. Way to achieve that rejuvenated mind – MEDITATION

So, Let’s start from the beginning. What is Meditation? Mediation is just like a medicine to our souls. To our Mind. Meditation has been practiced for quite a long time now. It is a process that helps us in eliminating all the negative thoughts and focusing our minds on one goal: – peace and happiness. Practicing meditation for around 20 minutes each day will surely provide a lot of benefits.

Skeptical? Let’s have a look at some of the benefits meditation can provide.

It helps in reducing Stress, Anxiety. Research shows that by practicing meditation, people found themselves eliminating negative thoughts. It helps in developing a better and stronger understanding of oneself and thus in turn helps develop the individual into a better version. It improves memory and ensures better sleep and so on. The list is long.

All these above-listed reasons are the benefits of meditation as well as the reasons why it must be inculcated into one’s daily activities.

How to Meditate? It is simple

First, we need to find a silent and peaceful place. Then take a position that is comfortable to you: – on a chair, bed, or floor or anywhere you feel comfortable. Now, close your eyes and pay keen attention to your breathing. When we are alone/idle, our mind wanders. It might wander too, during meditation. Your attention will shift no doubt, but slowly bring it back to breathing again. And then when the time is up, slowly rub your palms and place them on your eyes. Open the eyes.

It is simple right??

You will find the results instantly. It is that “DIY” that gives results instantly. After the meditation is done, analyze your thoughts (during and after meditation). After continuous practice, one will find improved control over the mind. A control that will help in eliminating all the negative thoughts away, leaving the individual with only peace of mind.

We live in our heads. Always worrying about future happenings. Simply put, we always live with the fear of the future. What future holds in the bag for us. This is what we must get rid of. We must learn to live in the moment. To learn to enjoy every single moment without worrying about the future. The art of meditation will surely help us with that. Meditation is powerful. If nothing, it will surely teach one thing: Self Discipline. It is surely one of the most important qualities we need right now to succeed in our paths in life. Is it not?

This post was all about meditation for beginners. I will surely come back with the advanced techniques in the next posts.

Till then, take care and be happy 😊
